Terms of Service

At Noteworthy Mom I strive to provide the highest quality service to each one of my clients on a personal level, one client at a time. Exceptional work for exceptional people.

By Jeannie Culbertson ~The Noteworthy Mom

By hiring me to perform any services, you agree to and understand the following:
I offer non-tangible irrevocable goods and services. Once services are agreed upon, you and I enter into a contract and any terms agreed upon via email or by phone, OR the product is sent or service has been rendered, refunds are not issued.

1. Editing and proofreading are each a process of offering advice and suggestions to the Client. While the Editor will make every effort to identify and bring questionable material to the Client’s attention, it is not possible to guarantee 100% error-free content.
2. The Editor’s responsibility is limited to notifying the Client of any suspected or unresolved issues within the edited work. The Client is responsible for accepting (or rejecting) the Editor’s suggestions and resolving any issues identified by the Editor.
3. Rejecting or disliking the Editor’s suggestions is not a basis for refunds or refusing to pay the fees outlined in this Agreement. If the Editor does the job outlined, payment is expected.

I do not negotiate price quotes once the price has been set. Once you agree to the terms we have defined, either through email or by a formal contract, you have committed to the services I have provided at the rate agreed upon.
If you ask me to do any work (i.e., in a conversation via email) and I do it, expect to be billed for it.
I will not commit to working on a project that I am not confident that I can complete. There are occasions where once I look into the project, I find that I am not the right fit for the job. In these cases, I will contact you to discuss mutually terminating the project. This may be the case if deadlines cannot be met, or if the project is too complicated in nature (scientific, medical, etc.).
In case a collection agency needs to become involved due to your non-payment, you are hereby notified that you will pay all fees incurred by the collection process on top of the invoice due.
Payments & Billing
I will provide a flat project rate when a detailed project is provided to me to quote from. Any additions, provisions, or changes during the project will need to be approved and additional costs noted. Typically, I quote flat rates for all projects based on word count and subject/genre.
You will get two free revisions within a two-week timeframe if you are unsatisfied, you may send the work back twice. After that, I charge an additional fee of $25 per revision within the 14-day timeframe. After 14 days, our contract will expire. We will enter into a new contract, and you will be subject to billing at the original rate.

Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure
1. The Editor will hold in confidence and not disclose the Client’s confidential information to any third party, except with the Client’s written consent.
2. The Editor will take all reasonable steps to safeguard and prevent the loss, destruction, or unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of the Client’s confidential information.
3. The Editor will not make any unauthorized use of any of the Client’s trade secrets, confidential information, proprietary property, trademarks, or copyrighted materials.
4. The Editor retains the right to update résumé and portfolio to accurately reflect work history, including a link to the manuscript once available. The Editor will only disclose services rendered and a book description. For more information, visit www.noteworthymom.com/skills.

Disclaimers:

Please also note that hiring me for developmental or copy-editing services does not guarantee that you will not need the services of a proofreader. It is important to note that my services do not promise a guarantee of perfection. Due to the fact that as humans, we can’t always catch our own mistakes, it is best to hire a separate proofreader once our services are complete. It will still be your responsibility to make sure a proofreader is hired as the final professional set of eyes on your project to ensure your manuscript is as close to error-free as possible.

My developmental editing services are designed to enhance your book, smooth content, fact-check, and eliminate plot-holes based on the author’s voice and not intended to change storylines. It is always best to have a sample to understand the kind of editor you are getting and know if that is what you are looking for. For different types of editing style, please read my blog post by clicking here.

Formatting Services Note: I provide pdfs, Word documents, and epub2 (upon request). These are designed to work with Amazon and IngramSpark. For books requiring fixed-format or full-page spreads (such as children’s books and cookbooks) you will need an epub3 and I am unable to provide services for those at this time.

Working Hours

I work Monday-Friday during normal business hours, and I work from home.
I do not work nights or weekends unless it is specifically agreed upon. If deadlines are changed after contract this changes your rate quote.
