Honey at Home: All work and no play makes for a frustrating day

The past few weeks I have been working my tail off getting my business up and running. Last week, I took a few days off since Cody, (my husband), was off from work a few days. You would think that being home all the time, you have all the time in the world to do things, but that’s not usually the case if you want to make a living from home, and you also have a family.

Any legitimate work-from-home business opportunity will tell you that it takes work to be successful. That is, of course, a no-brainer. I couldn’t begin to tell you everything I’ve accomplished in the last few weeks, although I will say it’s not as much as I’d hoped to accomplish.

Yesterday, I paid the bills and recalculated our budget. I’ve had to relearn Microsoft Office since I haven’t used it in a long time. Things have really changed since I lost my job in March, and so I’ve had to make some adjustments. I also set up my website to have a static home page, a separate page for my blog, and categories for my two separate blogs. I am getting a lot of practice editing photos in my photo editor, InPixio. If it’s something you’re interested in, I recommend it. I’ve used other Softwares in the past, but I decided to check out InPixio and I really like it so far.

I’m learning so much though. Everything from taking care of all the business aspects to website editing. I have barely touched a computer for the last 15 years or so. One of the things I had to learn was how to set my DNS servers. I also had to figure out .php code, but HostGator online chat has awesome customer service. Speaking of that, if you are looking at doing virtually ANYTHING you’re unfamiliar with, turn to Google. I have found out you can do almost anything by doing a Google search on “how-to.” YouTube has been a big help too, the walkthroughs have helped me a great deal. I even managed to fix a few things on my car with YouTube.

At the end of the day, I had the kids straighten up their messes a bit, called the hubby on the road to tell him goodnight, and headed to bed. One of my personal luxuries I afford myself is scented wax. I really like the vanilla scent. That was how I ended my day, being a bit frustrated with learning all these new things and dealing with things at home. By the time I went to sleep, the scent helped me to relax.

The point of this whole post, if you may be wondering, is–you can do anything you need to do from home, with a simple online search. I want to encourage others to have confidence that it is entirely possible to start your own business, work on your own car, or fix a few things around the house with a simple online search. If I can do all these things, I’m sure anyone can.

If you were going to start your own business, what would it be? What is holding you back? Feel free to comment your thoughts below.
