Koffee and Kiddos: School is in Session?

Today has been an interesting day, as they always are. I took my two younglings to the bus stop and surprisingly, the bus was empty, save for my two. My daughter, Serenity (10), said there were 8 students total on her bus today, including her younger brother, Jackson (6).

This may be (okay it most likely is), because of Covid-19. It seems that yesterday, the school released a statement that a high-school teacher tested positive for coronavirus. Am I the only one that is absolutely sick (no pun intended) of the coronavirus stuff? I just want everything to get back to normal like hopefully, everyone else does.

On March 16th, I got a call from the school saying it had been decided by the powers that be, school would continue from home for a few weeks. As it turned out, I was let go from my job on March 18th. A happy coincidence I suppose; I was now a stay-at-home mom again after five years of over-the-road trucking. While teaching my kids from home, I began searching online for jobs, without any luck. Thanks again, Covid. Unemployed and having been terminated from my job, I was ineligible for unemployment benefits.

Since then, I’ve been home, and if you want to know more about my journey from being an over-the-road truck driver to a work-from-home mom, you can check out my about section.

Today, on my list of things to do, was starting my new blog. In between, I also had my older kiddos (my twins, Jayden and Joey, 13), clean up the kitchen, defrost the freezer, clean out the fridge, and straighten up my mom’s section of our big lake house. I have had about a pot of coffee today, and a nap. The coffee, combined with the several bottles of water I’ve drunk, has sent me running to the bathroom quite often, so rest assured–I’m getting my exercise.

Actually, the thing I’m struggling with the most is forcing myself onto a schedule. Usually, EVERYTHING takes longer than it’s supposed to (thank you slow internet), and things don’t work out the way I hope (like waiting 3 hours for the kitchen to be finished, for example), so I often run out of time by the end of the night.

I’ll share more about my intended schedule in future posts; maybe I can help others navigate their new home lifestyle (as I know I’m not the only one to lose my job or stay home during the Covid-19 crisis), as I too, figure my way around it. Feel free to comment below.
