The Noteworthy Mom

Established July 7th, 2020

My story began with getting fired. Not the best story right? It ended up being the best thing to ever happen to me though. Through the fire and the flames, Noteworthy Mom was born.

My name is Jeannie, and I was born and raised in a Christian family in Missouri. I’ve also lived in Pennsylvania and in a semi-truck as an over-the-road truck driver. I’ve traveled to 47 states in the USA. I have an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology with a few extra courses specializing in Early Childhood Education and Special Needs. I have also taken a few online courses and studied several books, just to brush up on my skills. Andif you read my skills page, you already knowI have become my own Web-Designer! So, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do itbecause you can! I designed this entire website from start to finish all on my own.

I have a 1st-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I’m a former body-builder and Tough Mudder competitor. Throughout my life, I have strived for excellence in any venture I undertook. I’ve always tried to be the BEST at everything I do, whether it was being a wife, mother, martial arts student and instructor, bodybuilder, or truck driverI always did my best. I excelled. So, when I was fired for the first time in my entire life, from my trucking job as an over-the-road truck driver, it was both a shock and a blessing wrapped into one. After five years of missing out on family events, birthdays, and holidays, I could finally come homefor good.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, I lost my job on March 18th, 2020, just as schools required mandatory home-schooling and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Many years ago when my children were younger, I home-schooled my children by choice. I was a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) for fourteen years. So, when it came to homeschooling, this wasn’t my first rodeo. And it WAS a rodeo. ANDit had been a fat minute since I’d home-schooled the kids. I had a senior in high school (who is now out on his own in the world), another high-schooler (now in college), two boys in middle school (they’re twins, now in high school), and two in elementary school (one is now in middle school). Admittedly, the elementary-aged kiddos were the hardest, especially my youngest, who was in kindergarten at the time. It was CHAOS. As we survived the primary COVID quarantine, I searched for jobs online, to no avail. There was an overwhelmingly high unemployment rate because of Covid-19, and since I was terminated, I was unable to take advantage of the hefty unemployment benefits.

Out of desperation and a need to make up the substantial loss of income (in the realms of $60,000 a year), I began looking for out-of-the-ordinary ways to make incomefrom home. Not just another work-at-home scam, but a legitimate income.

One day on Facebook, as I scrolled through, I decided to take a proofreading test, just for fun. I did pretty well! I only missed one, so I did a Google search and found out that at-home proofreaders make a sustainable income (over $40,000 a year full-time), and came across some proofreading courses online. I began investing in my own business. Fortunately, proofreading only requires a computer, smartphone, or tablet, an internet connection, a printer, and a few odds and ends to get started. As I was taking my online classes for proofreading, I also came across some good information regarding developmental, copy editing, formatting, fact-checking, indexing, and blogging, all of which you can make a substantial, sustainable income from home. Well, look at that, another opportunity!

Today, I continue taking classes and learning as I go. To learn more about me professionally, check out my developmental editing blog post. My promise to every client is that I will always do my absolute best to show you why I am the Noteworthy Mom.

Thank you for your support!
